Program Overview
Skill share nights are a great way to try out a craft in a fun, low-key environment. Grab a friend and come on down to North House for a hands-on Thursday night activity.
Thursday nights, 7-9 pm on the North House campus (specific buildings listed below). No pre-registration required, just show up!
Ages: All skill shares open to adults and youth ages 10 and up accompanied by an adult
October 3rd: Visible Mending
Hosted by Hannah Stadler | Blue Building | Free
Come learn everything from basic darning to mending styles from all over the world. Bring any mending projects you have lying around and watch them become something completely new!
October 10th: Rooted Wisdom
Hosted by Gigi Stafne | Green Building | Free
Explore the world of autumn roots, barks and berries as foods and botanical medicines during this season of descending earth energy. Prepare herbal formulations for optimal health in autumn!
October 17th: Dot painting on North Shore Beach Rocks
Hosted by Josie Cooke | Blue Building | $10 materials fee
Create and take home a dot painted rock or artist board. Learn how to paint in color tints and patterns. You will apply dots using special tools, and learn to layer paint dots for a 3D effect.
October 24th: Lacto-Fermented Vegetables
Hosted by Ian Carr | Fish House Kitchen | $15 materials fee
Come learn about the cultural traditions and chemical processes behind lacto-fermentation. From German sauerkraut to Italian giardiniera and Korean kimchi, you'll have a chance to make and take home a variety of tasty fermented vegetable dishes!
October 31st: Tool Sharpening - Staying Sharp through the Winter

Feeling dull? Come learn about keeping your tool edges looking GREAT with a simple tutorial on sharpening. Feel free to bring one or two knives or tools to work on. Optional, make a self-sharpening board to keep your edges up through the winter.
