Cal Stalvig Stalvig
Cal Stalvig (Afro-Norsq) moves between textiles, woodworking, design, sculpture, installation and place-based storytelling. His work is informed by urban and rural landscapes, animist folk traditions, queer ecologies, and black fugativity within the territory of janteloven.
His work has been exhibited at Night Club Gallery in St. Paul; The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn; Law Warschaw Gallery at Macalester College; and the Katherine E. Nash Gallery at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Electronic Textile Institute Berlin and The Acreage in Osceola, WI. In 2026 he received a Visual Arts Fund grant from Midway Contemporary Art, supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation.
