Course Overview
Whether you work with green or dry wood, there are extremely few processes that do not involve the use of saws in some way. This humble tool is the backbone of so much of what happens in woodworking. Power saws of many types are inexpensive and available for almost every task, but there are still a lot of advantages to unplugged handsaws of various styles. This class is all about choosing, using and maintaining effective saws that work without motors and electricity, and can help to eliminate a lot of the noise and dust in your process.
In this course, we will begin by disassembling an older panel saw and discuss the process for cleaning the blade plate, and re-attaching the handle. Then we will talk about various sharpening patterns and how they affect the way a saw cuts through wood
