Winter Woodstove Series: Black Ash Pack Baskets

Course Overview

The black ash pack basket: it's beautiful, highly functional and speaks of the place we call home. During this six-session evening class, offered over three weeks, you can craft your own pack basket with North House instructor Ian Andrus. You will spend the first evening preparing black ash splint for your basket by pounding a locally harvested log. In the remaining sessions, you'll weave the basket and finish it with a rim, straps and harness. The finished basket will stand 16"-18" high, and be perfect for forages in the woods, excursions to the co-op & the laundrymat, or bigger adventures further afield. Sharing with neighbors, learning a traditional northern craft, and finishing with handmade, useful object-- what better way to spend January nights?
