Winter Camping at 30 Below

Course Overview

Winter camping: the phrase itself is a siren song to many and an oxymoron to others. The coldest season offers many rewards for those willing to venture out: starry skies, dazzling aurora borealis displays, astonishing quiet, and deep beauty. Don Kevilus has spent many nights enjoying the pleasures of winter camping, and as he’ll tell you, being comfortable is no accident, but simply requires planning and a bit of forethought. Anyone can do it, and there’s no need to spend thousands of dollars on high-tech gear. In this half day workshop, Don will cover the basics of simple, inexpensive winter camping: equipment, nutrition, sleep systems (hammocks anyone?), needed skills, and generally how to be happy outdoors at thirty below.
