Twined Knitting Intro: Let's Get Twisted

Course Overview

Dive into the special Swedish knitting technique of tvåändstickning, also called twined knitting or two-ended knitting. With this technique, the knitter works with two strands of yarn at the same time, traditionally from both ends of the same ball of yarn, twisting them between every stitch. While this type of knitting takes longer, it results in a finished product that is warmer, more wind-resistant, and harder-wearing. In this class, students will make a wrist warmer to focus on the technique of twining knit and purl stitches, as well as learning the crook stitch and how to add color work. The finished wrist warmers are approximately 8 1/2” in circumference and 3 1/4” tall. This class is suitable for adventurous intermediate or advanced knitters who are ready to consider foundational knitting techniques in a new way. Be prepared to slow down and think! Knitters should be able to cast on, knit and purl, and work with two colors.
