Woodcarving
Spoon Carving Intensive
Course Overview
Take a "deep dive" into the craft of spoon carving. This course is designed for folks that have experience carving spoons and are interested in building upon the skills that they have already developed. Over three days, we will cover aspects of spoon carving ranging from design, how to create clean lines, see shape (good and bad), and of course, carve in great depth. There will be several class critiques that will allow individuals the advantage of having additional eyes to look over their work and offer feedback and ideas. Varying degrees of experience are welcome, but this class is intended for someone who already has a solid foundation in carving, wood grain, and sharpening.
Required Tools
Please bring your own tools (carving knives, spoon knives, sharpening supplies, and strops). There will be a limited number of tools available provided by North House. Wood will be provided but bring some of your own if you would like.
If you would like to brush up on spoon carving before (encouraged) the class there are several great books on the topic and tools available at the School Store at North House Folk School in person or at https://store.northhouse.org/
