Northern Ecology

Raptors of the North Shore

Course Overview

If the sight of a falcon, eagle, owl, or osprey soaring over the shoreline of Lake Superior has always enraptured you, this workshop will let you dig your talons into these fascinating creatures. Join Micaela Brevig, naturalist with The Raptor Center for a day-long immersion in raptors. The first half of the day will include an overview of The Raptor Center’s work in raptor rehabilitation, demonstrations with live raptors—eagles, hawks, falcons and owls—and an examination of feathers, wings, talons, and bones. After lunch, the course will head into the field for an afternoon nature hike focused on raptors and their interactions with the North Shore ecosystem. Bring your binoculars!
