Knitting in the Round: Understanding and Following Knitting Directions for "In the Round" Projects
Course Overview
Moving beyond being a beginning knitter to one who can confidently read and follow written patterns requires learning the secret language of knitters. This one-day course helps you decode the patterns written for caps, mittens, socks and other projects knitted "in the round." We will also review techniques and offer some tips and tricks. Enroll in the class alone, or pair it with "Beyond Scarves and Dishcloths" to explore written knitting pattern directions for two needle flat projects. *Knitters should be able to cast on, knit and purl easily. With instructor guidance, students will work from printed knitting directions, using common abbreviations and instructions. Students will knit a seamless tube sampler using double pointed needles, circular and circular with loop needles. Techniques will also include 2 cast-on methods, shaping the tops of caps; also knitting to gauge: the "how" and "why" to determine your gauge (stitches per inch), and using it for a good fit.
