This class is a great introduction to basic leatherwork. We will use a traditional 2-needle saddle stitch to hand sew a sketchbook case, simple pocket case, and snap purse. Other projects will be available as time allows. Natural vegetable tanned cowhide is a beautiful material that will darken to a rich patina as you use it, and it will last for decades with the right care. Students age 16+ may sign up for this course. Youth ages 14+ may attend with an adult.

Physical ability note: this process requires hand strength and enough shoulder strength to pound tools with a mallet.
