Western Swing is strongly rooted in the traditional folk fiddling traditions developed and featured by fiddlers like Bob Wills, Spade Cooley and Cecil Brower. In this workshop we’ll look at the folk fiddle styles; the bowings, playing styles, and improvisations that watered the roots of Western Swing Fiddling. Kevin will model various techniques, and students will be able to play them back and have many opportunities to ask questions. Kevin will perform with Swiddlin' Fling, a Western Swing band, as part of the Traditional Music weekend on Saturday evening.
