Course Overview

The North House Blacksmith Shop excites the curiosity of adults and kids alike. Hammers pound, sparks fly, and red-hot metal becomes a fire poker, hook, or other tool right before their eyes. In this family class, kids and adults will work together to craft simple items and get a sense for this ancient trade.

One registration fee covers a maximum of three people working together:

  • One adult (18+) and one child, or
  • One adult (18+) and two children, or
  • Two adults (18+) and one child

Children must be at least 10 years old to participate in this course.

Required Tools

  • Jeans
  • Cotton shirts (no nylon clothing), long sleeved is best
  • Closed-toe shoes, ideally leather
  • Clothing comfortable to be outdoors
  • Hair tie for long hair
  • Leather gloves

Optional Tools

  • Safety glasses & hearing protection (provided, but you may wish to bring your own for fit and comfort)
