Dive In! A Freshwater Study of Lake Superior

Course Overview

Dive in and get to know the largest freshwater lake in the world firsthand. In this course we combine exciting, hands-on ‘laboratory’ work – including the dissection of a fish - with a 2-hour sailing adventure aboard the Hjørdis collecting ‘data’ on the big lake. Explore the natural communities that inhabit Lake Superior, the related areas of meteorology, geology and geography, and discuss the impacts that cultural and economic activity have had on the Lake. Join Peter Barsness, who has devoted much of his professional life to teaching freshwater studies and increasing awareness of Lake Superior, for an unforgettable hands-on learning experience.
