Northern Ecology

Birds On The Shore and More

Course Overview

As spring bird migration winds down some of the most interesting avian stragglers show up along the North Shore. This three-day workshop will emphasize birding along the North Shore from Grand Portage to Temperance River. In this course you will explore the geology and plant life of the Lake Superior shoreline, one of the most distinctive and interesting landscapes in the Midwest. Field trips will include a few hikes less than a mile in length, and to complement field experiences there will be one afternoon workshop. Meals will be on your own. This course is part of the Boreal Birding and Northern Landscapes Festival – enrollment includes participation in the festival’s Friday and Saturday evening programs.
