Weave a Willow Serving Tray
Course Overview
Simple and elegant, a handmade willow platter is a great way to serve fruits, breads and other foods. Made with locally harvested willow, these trays are held together entirely by tension and include additional woven details as a decorative element. In this one-day course, students will learn several basic weaving techniques, gain experience working with willow shoots, and acquire new skills that can be applied to future projects. The finished tray makes a great serving platter, cooling rack, or decorative wall hanging. At the end of class there will be an optional short trip to a nearby location to look at willow growing in the wild, and to discuss harvest practices.
