Although the frame saw dates back many centuries, it is more precise and effective than many modern tools. According to guest instructor Roald Renmaelmo, it should be part of every woodworker's tool kit. Roald will lead students in making their own frame saw, based on an old Norwegian style of saw. The frame will be built from pine and birch and shaped with traditional hand tools. Roald will provide a custom blade made by Verktøysmia in Norway. Time will be spent learning to sharpen and maintain the blade as well. This is an opportunity to learn from a renowned expert in traditional tools as part of this special week at North House. This course is best suited for students with some hand tool woodworking experience.
