Basketry

Teeny Tiny Baskets

Course Overview

How small can you weave? Using a variety of local materials, students will create their own miniature baskets using finely prepared cedar bark, spruce root, basswood bark and other local materials. Weaving small takes skill and patience and challenges one's weaving abilities as the tiny basket takes shape. Plan to make several baskets, either individual or in pairs for jewelry.

Important: weaving experience is required. Students must be comfortable with twining or pairing.

Required Tools

  • Please provide your own magnifying glass if needed. We will have good lighting, but do what you need to work small.
