Swedish Dalmålning Using Traditional Techniques

Course Overview

Swedish Folk Painting, often referred to as “dalmålning” actually consists of several different painting styles based on region, subject, and artist. In this course, we will discuss the style of northern Sweden known as Dalmålning or Kurbitsmaling. Then we’ll practice the basic painting techniques of this style by creating our own project.  This course will be taught using traditional egg emulsion and dry pigments to make the paint that students will learn how to make themselves in class.  No painting experience is needed. Students age 16+ may register for this course on their own. This course is open to students ages 12+ if accompanied by an adult. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
