Simple Hand-Sewn Leather Shoulder Bag

Course Overview

Learn the traditional skills of leatherwork as you make a simple shoulder bag that will last for decades. Students will learn how to sew, trim, and finish their bag out of natural vegetable tanned cowhide. Instruction will include basic surface design, wet molding, and hardware application.

No prior sewing experience is necessary, but this class will require good hand dexterity and some arm strength for hitting tools with a mallet. Students should bring reading glasses if needed.

Youth ages 13+ are welcome to register with an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full-paying adult; call to register.
