Sewing: Next Steps

Course Overview
In this course, we will move from the most basic sewing skills (such as laying out a pattern, pinning, and sewing simple seams) to more advanced skills: setting in sleeves, sewing facings and pockets, and doing garment closings, such as buttonholes and zippers. Very simple alterations for sizing will also be included.
This course is open to those with introductory (or years-ago) sewing experience.
Students aged 10+ may register for this course independently. Students aged 8-9 may register with a full-paying adult. The youth student will receive a 25% intergenerational discount; call to register.
Required Tools
- Students will bring fabric and patterns to class, chosen with assistance from instructor.
- Working sewing machine and user manual. North House can provide machines for students to use. Please contact info@northhouse.org at least two weeks before class to request use of a sewing machine.
