Woodworking & Furniturecraft

Service Learning Project: Dovetail Tool Tote

Course Overview

Hone your woodworking skills while helping North House! In this course, we’ll build custom dovetailed pine tool totes designed for an array of hand tools. Learn fundamental skills in carpentry and joinery, including use of hand and power tools, hand-cutting dovetails, creating a dado, and even cutting and fitting a “secret” dovetail that adds to the overall strength of the tote. The totes will stay at North House, but skills acquired in this course can be applied to a variety of woodworking projects at home. No prior woodworking experience necessary.
