Course Overview

Does the thought of Wood Week have you all rearing to go? Why not kick things off by carving and painting a Dala horse? Harley Refsal will lead students through the stable, and introduce traditional Swedish Versions, as well as some of their Nordic and New World Dalapalooza cousins. This special offering for Wood Week only invites beginning and experienced carvers alike to learn Scandinavian-style flat plane figure carving while exploring the classic Dala horse form, an important Swedish cultural icon that can inspire myriad carving possibilities.  All levels welcome.

Tuition: $285.00
Additional materials fee paid to instructor when class starts: varies ($10 and up)

Required

You will need the following tools for this class:

All required tools/materials are provided by your instructor and North House and will be available once the course begins. You may borrow a carving knife and a cut-resistant glove from the instructor, or you may purchase from instructor.  (Cut-resistant glove-$12, Knife; 2 different types-$45 or $22.50; basswood cutouts - $10 each)

Optional Tools

Feel free to bring your favorite tools and whatever materials you might feel appropriate for this course.
