Rosemaling Online Course: Hallingdal-Style Plate

Course Overview

Rosemaling means "rose painting" in Norwegian, and is done in many styles reflective of specific regions in Norway. In this intermediate course, participants will paint a plate in the Hallingdal style of rosemaling designed by instructor Kim Garrett. The course will meet for a morning and afternoon session on the first Saturday, then participants will have time to paint on their own during the week and will come back together the following Saturday to finish the project together online.

Required Tools

  • Students will provide their own materials for this course using a list provided in their confirmation email. Materials needed will include a variety of paints and painting supplies typically used for rosemaling as well as the wooden plate to paint on. 
  • Students will also need a laptop or tablet with reliable internet connection.

Hours: Saturday March 20th, 10 am - Noon and 1-4 pm CT, Saturday March 27th, 1-4 pm CT
