North House is thrilled to welcome basketmaker Hege Aasdal for her first trip to teach in the United States. Hege is an expert in Norwegian split basketry, a material commonly used across Norway and other parts of Scandinavia, but not as well known or understood as other forms of willow basketry. In this mini course, students of any level will learn the very basics of splitting material, do a small amount of weaving, and discover some of beautiful and unique styles of baskets from across Norway. No experience necessary, just curiosity about these lovely baskets. A materials fee of approx $20 will be due at the time of class.
