Fiber Art

North House Fair Isle Project

Course Overview

Celebrate winter on the North Shore with a wearable tribute to the North House community. In this intermediate-level class, we’ll explore the fundamentals of stranded colorwork (a.k.a. Fair Isle knitting) while beginning a cozy cowl featuring motifs inspired by North House—including a rosemaling-style flower and the North House logo.

Students will learn to read colorwork charts, knit with two strands and to manage floats and tension—all within the structure of a simple, tube-style cowl (no shaping required!).

Whether students complete their project during class will depend on their pace and familiarity with the techniques—but they'll leave with all the skills and confidence needed to finish it at home.

This class is about process and connection, not perfection. All materials provided; bring your favorite needles and your sense of place.

Materials Fee: $45–$55 (final cost depends on supplier pricing) paid to instructor in class.
