Nålbinding Mittens and Socks

previous slide
next slide

Course Overview

Nålbinding is an old textile technique done with a thread carried on a wide short needle. The piece is held in the hand in such a way that each new loop is made around the thumb, which thus acts as a gauge keeping the loops of constant size. The result is a warm, thick fabric.  During this workshop students will learn how to make mittens and socks in nålbinding with Featured International Guest Instructor Anne Marie Neilsen. Time will be devoted to the history and folklore of nålbinding as well.
