Traditional Crafts

Lantern Puppet Design and Construction

Course Overview

Lantern puppets bring a unique magic to nighttime theater shows and after dark parades. In this class, students will design and construct their own lantern puppets out of willow, wire, and cloth. They will explore skills such as armature building and hand sewing. A focus on design concepts, natural materials, and skill building make this class the perfect choice for anyone looking to dive deeper into the world of lantern puppets.

Beginners are welcome, and just basic hand mobility is needed for hand-sewing and willow and wire bending.
