Intro to Inkle Weaving
Course Overview
Learn to weave bands on an inkle loom, a useful, portable loom capable of weaving bands up to 8' long and 3" wide in a range of patterns. In this beginner friendly class, students will learn how to design and read a pattern, warp the loom using a system of string heddles, and weave a patterned band by combining different colors of yarn. Students can expect to head home with a band about 1” wide and up to 4’ long by the end of class. Potential projects include making a belt, lanyard, bracelet, hat band, or bag strap. Hardware will be provided in class as well as information and inspiration on how to continue using inkle looms for further weaving adventures.
A materials fee of $25 will be collected in class.
Students ages 14+ may register for this course independently. Youth ages 10+ are welcome to register with an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full-paying adult; call to register.
