Build a Small Table from Reclaimed Wood
Build a highly functional new table, perfect for a home office, computer desk, potting table or anything in between using reclaimed cedar lumber. This table’s construction is designed around the use of basic tools, including the use of dowel pins and smaller cross pins to secure the joints. Students will also use a modified mortise and tenon-style design that requires no special tools other than a hand saw and a square. The finished table will measure approximately 54” long x 24” deep x 32” high. The tabletop is 1.5” thick and each leg measures approximately 3”x3” thick. As time allows, students will have the opportunity to build accessories for the table as well as add their own custom touches. This class is a great introduction to woodworking and will include instruction in the proper use of story sticks, bit and brace, and hand saws, as well as some power tools. We will also have time to discuss finishes that can be applied at home.
