Blacksmithing: The Basics & Beyond
Course Overview
Always wanted to swing a hammer and fire up a forge? This is the place to start and the place to take basic skills to the next level. In this course, students will be introduced to the basic skills of blacksmithing, including safety, coal forge operation, tools, and equipment, and then learn and implement the techniques to forge multiple projects. Projects will include s-hooks, decorative leaves, roasting forks, spoons, basics of forge welding, heat treatment of high carbon steel, and extra small projects as time allows.Youth ages 14-15 may register if accompanied by an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
