Birch Bark Knife Sheathes with Vladimir Yarish

Course Overview

Every sharp knife needs a sheath. Learn to make traditional birch bark knife sheathes from Scandinavia from master weaver Vladimir Yarish. In this half day session, students will make two sheaths of birch bark and spruce root based on very old examples on display at museums in Oslo, Norway and in Stockholm, Sweden. The design and construction is interesting and makes for a very useful finished product. All materials will be provided.
