Winter Woodstove Series: Fireplace Bellows
Course Overview
Learn the basics of woodworking, leatherwork and metalwork - all in 4 hours! Working on this fascinating project, a handcrafted pair of bellows - a useful implement for tending fires at home or at the campsite - you'll learn how to properly use basic handtools including spokeshaves, handplanes and drills. Chip carving may also be incorporated as decorative designs. Students will build the hand bellows from materials including pine, copper piping and deer hide. Cutting techniques for leather and metal will also be covered. The finished product is a functional tool that is also a decorative piece to occupy a place of prominence next to the fireplace.
