Course
Weaving on the Slotted Rigid Heddle
Course Overview
Use a spaltegrind (slotted rigid heddle) to make your own hand-woven bands for adorning your mukluks, anorak or Scandinavian folk costume. Following the Scandinavian-influenced rigid heddle weaving tradition you will learn how to weave rich, colorful bands on a slotted rigid heddle similar to heddles found in Norway, Sweden or Finland. Traditionally, these bands are worked in cotton, linen or wool. A selection of yarns will be provided for projects. With the spaltegrind (which you get to keep), bands can be personalized with dates and names.
