Traditional Dovetail Joinery

Course Overview

Dovetail joinery is one of the oldest forms of joinery that exists in woodworking. In this class we will learn how to make dovetails, and students who wish can build a beautiful lidded dovetail box. A box could be perfect for storing smaller hand tools, chisels, or as a jewelry box for a loved one. Students will make every component from scratch. Experience all stages of the process from learning to read wood, picking the lumber best suited for your project, creatng a parts needed list, preparing the wood, and learning correct sanding techniques and foolproof tips for applying a perfect finish. Expect to hand cut dovetails, draw scribe lines for thickness planing, and learn how to sharpen chisels and hand planes. This class is designed to give you a good start in woodworking without having to invest in expensive tools or a large work space in order to create amazing results. All levels welcome.
