Course Overview

Dining will never be so rewarding or elegant than when seated at a finely crafted, traditional, pine trestle table with classic lyre-shaped legs. Using hand and power tools, students will build a table measuring approximately 84 inches long by 44 inches wide and 32 inches tall and comfortably seats eight. Course begins with the preparation of rough sawn lumber through the gluing up of tops and legs. We will then lay out and cut the parts, chop mortises, and size tenons. The final steps will be assembly and detailing of the table. Students will leave this course knowing how to sharpen, tune, and use hand tools properly for further furniture making and how to drawbore tight, glueless mortise and tenon joints. This course is best completed with a partner; tuition and materials for the project includes two students, so plan to bring a family member or friend along to create an heirloom. This class is only offered occasionally, don't miss your chance. Note, this project is best suited for students who have woodworking experience. Instructor will contact you prior to class start date.
