Course
Stone Building for the Wood-fired Oven: Service Learning
Course Overview
Cobbled rock and field stone-- what could be more appropriate? The blocks have been laid, the oven has been built, and we're hungry to fire up the new bread oven on campus. However, before the oven starts cooking we need to make it feel like part of our harbor home (something about plain cement block that just doesn't say North House). Join stone building instructor David Abazs as he applies local field stone and ledge rock to the base of the oven, which sets the stage for the slate, stucco and timbers that will complete the exterior of the oven in the weeks to come. Dust off your masonry skills and leave a legacy on the North House campus. Your registration fee includes a delicious lunch each day.
