Your family may already feel like a three ring circus, but after this workshop, you’ll be able to rise above it all (and have some fun!) on your very own pair of stilts. You’ll spend the morning building a pair of stilts in the circus style using simple woodworking skills, some bike tire and ingenuity, and then spend the afternoon learning to walk like the pros. Instructor Jim Ouray and his sons Otis and Andrew have years of experience teaching kids and grown ups of all ages to strut their stuff on stilts, and they will have you safely and comfortably on your feet in no time (you may recognize them from Summer Solstice Pageants, May Day parades and the Running of the Smelt). All students are encouraged to make stilts, but adults may opt for an assistant role. Adult-child combined tuition $131.25 early bird/ $148.75 regular.
