Spiders of the North Woods

Course Overview

"Unfortunately, spiders have gotten a lot of bad PR," in the words of spider enthusiast and celebrated naturalist Larry Weber. Spiders are a common member of our ecosystem, but despite this status, they are not well known. Join Larry as he debunks the myth of the spider and learn basic spider biology in this exciting, entertaining field course. You'll observe and catch spiders in their own environment, study their web patterns, and discover which families of spiders are more commonly seen. You'll use magnifying glasses, close-focus binoculars, and even cameras to explore these interesting and harmless critters. Safe handling of spiders and introductory microscope work are also addressed.
