Part of a long history of simple furniture forms that have stood the test of time is the six board chest. Used by the Vikings and before, these chests are easy to build, look good, and are useful as benches and storage boxes. We will use hand tools to make our version from pine, and it will measure approximately 24" x 11" x 17 1/2". There will be design opportunities to personalize your chest and make it your own. We will paint our chests with milk paint which we will make ourselves from milk and slaked lime. You won't need any special skills other than a willingness to learn and enough power to push the tools! (a 12 year old can do it!)
