Sharpening for the Woodworker

Course Overview

There are many woodworking tools out there that require a sharp edge to function properly. A dull tool is no fun to use and may be unusable or dangerous depending on its condition. Unfortunately, sharpening gets a bad reputation. It's oftentimes overlooked and neglected, and sometimes unclear. This class will go over the skills and tools needed to get those woodworking tools back into working condition. We will explore powered and hand sharpening methods as well as the theory of sharpening. Students will leave empowered to tackle sharpening with confidence. This class does require hand strength and hand endurance. Opening up a new sealed jar can be an indicator of the required strength needed. Sharpening hand saws will not be covered in this class.
