Service Learning Project: Sewing Bee

Course Overview

There are so many functional things you can sew! Spend a weekend helping us with a few projects around North House. From canvas roofs for the new timber frame tents, to seat cushions and curtains to spruce up classrooms, you’ll get to make a mark on campus. Learn a few essential skills: from patterning and pinning to threading and operating various domestic sewing machines. In addition, try your hand setting a variety of grommets in a range of fabric types and weights. You’ll leave with a new appreciation for a range of home sewing applications and likely a few ideas for your own hive. This class will cater to both beginner and intermediate sewers and is a great way to reacquaint yourself with your sewing machine. Lunch will be provided both days.
