Want to lend a helping hand to learn how to mosaic? Want to witness options for finishing your bread oven, outdoor project or mural? Here's your chance to work with Grand Marais-based artist, Kelly Dupre, designing, tiling and grouting the surface of North House's outdoor-wood-fired brick oven. Kelly will lead students through the mosaic process of preparing materials and finishing in this special two-day service learning project. Your participation and tuition in this service learning project includes: * overview of mosaic process - from preparation to finish * hands-on experience preparing tiles and surfaces, mixing mortars, color selection and grouting * lunch served daily on the North House campus for all service learning participants A great way to spend part of your time in Grand Marais for the 2009 Fisherman's Picnic, while also contributing to an improved campus on the harbor.
