Seal The Deal: Autumn Equinox Project Weekend
Course Overview
Rumors are true – the timber whittling is done and now it’s time to put the brushes and auger bits to work! Over the past six months, the willing hands of many have helped create the timbers for North House’s new Milling Shop classroom building. A total of 141 white pine timbers (posts, plates, rafters, girts and braces) are all carefully stacked on campus. The next steps are equally important: apply non-toxic citrus-based finish and pre-drill peg holes.
This volunteer effort is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the North Shore on the autumn equinox weekend (fall colors are guaranteed). Families are welcome. Lunch (as well as occasional donuts!) will be provided and thus pre-registration is requested. A small team of volunteers is also needed on Sept 22 to re-stack and cover the dried timbers. After the finish cures, the timbers will be raised in mid October. Earn and Learn credit may be requested.
