In this class you will carve in the relief or two-dimensional style. Students will carve from a 17" X 10" blank that has been roughed out by a machine so most of the carving techniques focus on fine details. The subject of the course will be Willie & Joe, two WWII GIs made famous by 'Stars and Stripes' cartoonist Bill Maudlin. You will complete and finish the project using stains and waxes suited for relief carving.
