Here's your opportunity to develop your relief carving skills alongside national award-winning carver Bruce Futterer while also exploring the commercial fishing maritime heritage of Lake Superior. In this class, you will work from a cutout blank to create a relief carving of a commercial fisherman carrying a large fish home from his fish house (reminiscent of Bruce's upbringing in his Scandinavian home on the North Shore). Other options for relief carving projects are available as well. A third day has been added to this course to offer students more time to experiment with finishing techniques and to start an additional project. By the end of this course, students will have enjoyed multiple relief carving projects and uitilized finishing stains, paints and waxes. Students unable to stay for three days may choose to stay for just day 1 and 2 (tuition $150).
