The bright burgundy-red branches of the red-osier dogwood stand strikingly against the winter white northern landscape where it grows as a native shrub. With its long, straight, flexible twigs, red-osier is highly prized by basket weavers, and in this course you use it to create a melon-style basket. During this one-day course you also learn harvesting techniques and venture out to visit a harvesting site with the opportunity to collect materials for a future basket.
