In this workshop, torch-fired enamels and pebble jewelry unite. Learn one of the oldest methods of decorating metal by fusing different colors of powdered enamel glass onto copper using the open flame of a torch to make multiple torch-fired enamel elements. Plus, drill a few pebbles to add some North Shore flair to your enamel jewelry. Basic torch-fired enamel and metal fabrication techniques will be taught that include sawing, drilling, piercing and soldering. The acetylene torch will be used for both enameling and soldering. Prong and/or bezel setting instructions may be provided, time permitting. Students are welcome to bring the pebbles they have for design consideration, and there will be time to collect pebbles during the workshop. Once students have created their enamel pieces and drilled pebbles, they will capture them in sterling silver to create unique jewelry pieces that reflect the colors of the North Shore. It’s a pebble and fire mixology experience! 

All jewelry-making tools will be provided, and sterling silver and copper sheet will be available for purchase at the time of the class. The instructor will also be providing the diamond drill bits and enamel glass powders. The material fee of $85-$100 will be paid to the instructor during class, and includes enamels purchased specifically for this class. Beginners and all skill levels welcome.

• Eye magnification, if needed to see small detail
• A way to tie back longer hair
• Small old hand towel to dry your metal pieces
• Bibbed apron to protect your clothes
• Protective eye wear, typically used for welding, if so desired
• Dust mask if you are bothered by fine dust particles 
• Fine black Sharpie pen
• Pen and paper for notetaking
