Throughout history, storytelling has played an important role in communities around the world, shaping relationships between people, the natural environment and the ways we learn. A good story can welcome, inspire, teach and entertain people of all ages. Discover the wonderful art, craft and techniqe of traditional storytelling alongside professional storyteller Kevin Strauss. Participants in this weekend course will learn about finding the (right) story, story structure, pacing and voice techniques, how to take the leap of sharing their story with others and bringing your story to life. The workshop will also address performance techniques, story building (creating your own version of a traditional story) and story evaluation. You will have the option of being coached on their story techniques in a small group setting. Materials fees include the book "On Being A Storyteller" and a CD of demonstration stories "The Mountain Wolf's Gift."
