Course Overview

If you are looking for the subtle, soft colors used in Grandma's treasured coverlets, or strong, dashing tones to make your knitting or weaving project more colorful, this course will explore the variations of color from the world of plants. Students will learn how to prepare the dye baths to extract the colors and cover the process of using mordants. We will dye wool yarn and roving for knitting, weaving or other yarn-related projects. Like the three-day course, this class will include tips on how to grow, prune, harvest and store plant materials for future use. Students will leave the class with 8.25 oz wool yarn, dyed samples of silk and cotton, as well as a handbook to continue learning on their own!
