This course is the winter counterpart to “Making a Birch Bark Berry Basket.” It’s held in the darkest time of the year when it’s a treat to take out the stored bark and make a traditional birch bark container from one piece of bark with the sides folded up to eliminate side seams and a rim wrapped with pine root. You learn to develop a pattern for the container, prepare the stored bark for the project and boil, peel and split root. Instructor provides all necessary materials from the previous season’s harvest.
